Washington Business Journal Honors Blue Star Software As One Of Greater Washington’s Best Places To Work In 2018

Blue Star Software has been named by the Washington Business Journal as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Greater Washington for 2018.

The 12th annual Best Places to Work program honors companies that scored highest among the nearly 500 employers that participated in Quantum Workplace’s annual employee engagement survey. The Business Journal’s Best Places to Work results are quantitative, based on survey responses from employees themselves.

Rankings of the winners were announced at a May 17 awards event held at the MGM National Harbor. Blue Star Software ranked among the top 10 winners in the medium-sized business.

About Best Places to Work: Honorees are generated from online nominations. Businesses meeting criteria for business location and size are invited to participate in employee engagement surveys distributed by Quantum Workplace. Based on the results of those surveys, businesses are assigned a score out of 100 percent and ranked by Quantum. The top-rated companies in three size categories — 35 small, 25 medium, 25 large — and 20 extra-large companies are honored by the Business Journal as Best Places to Work.

Blue Star Software Hosts Its 3rd Annual Take Your Child To Work Day

Blue Star Software hosted its 3rd annual Take Your Child to Work Day this morning at the Udvar-Hazy National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia. Nearly 50 employees and family members participated in the event, which included an interactive paper airplane demonstration presented exclusively for the Blue Star group. The Udvar-Hazy Center hosts thousands of aviation and space artifacts including a Concorde, an SR-71 Blackbird, and the Space Shuttle Discovery. Attendees also enjoyed access to the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower and the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hanger.

“Our employees don’t always have the opportunity to bring their families to work with them, so events like this one have become especially important to the team,” said Alexa Watson, Director of Employee Engagement. “For the past few years we’ve made an effort to host STEM inspired events that enable us to share our love of technology with the next generation. This year’s trip to the Udvar-Hazy Center was so compelling that even a few child-free folks came along. The space shuttle was a huge hit with everyone across the board. I don’t know how we’re going to top the Discovery next year! We definitely have our work cut out for us.”
